A Beer Lover’s Guide to the East Coast of Australia

Over the course of three months, I meandered my way up the well-travelled East Coast of Australia stopping at pretty much every viewpoint, beach and, most importantly, every pub. Now that might be a slight exaggeration but, with the heat of the Australian sun combined with living out of a small van, a nice cold beer can do wonders for you. Whilst a trip up the East Coast can be done in two weeks, I’d highly recommend slowing down. Even with three months to explore this region, I still felt as though it was rushed and left me wanting to see more! Now, to help plan your trip or even…

Sydney’s Best Walk: Bondi to Coogee

When it comes to Sydney, Australia’s largest city, no traveller will be short of things to do.  Away from the hustle and bustle of the Harbour and the Opera House, lies Sydney’s best walk; from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach.  There’s a reason this is one of the best things to do in Sydney.  The views are absolutely breathtaking.  The beaches are beautiful, not to mention the sheer cliffs, the rockpools and the turquoise ocean.  You might even spot migrating whales if your timing’s right. Whilst many walkers will walk no further than Bronte Beach, I promise you that it only gets better by going the full 6km to Coogee…

The Lap of Australia – Week Eleven

28th May to 3rd June Cairns to Cape Tribulation (and back again) So this is it, the final week of our adventure up the East Coast of Australia. From Sydney to Cape Tribulation; a journey of approximately 6,000 kilometres and countless hours on the road. This week we drove from Cairns to Cape Tribulation, visited Port Douglas and snorkelled the Great Barrier Reef. This is the what dreams are made of right? Cape Tribulation Whilst most roadtrippers may end their long journey at Cairns, the largest city for miles, we decided to press on as far as the tarmac goes. Cape Tribulation is quite literally the end of the road,…

The Lap of Australia – Week Nine

14th May to 20th May Bundaberg to Bowen After refreshing from our first bit of work in a long time, we spent the start of this week prepping for an epic road trip.  The plan was always to finish the East Coast by the beginning of June.  This meant that we had two weeks to make it up to Cape Tribulation, two hours past Cairns. In honour of passing its service and ahead of a long drive, we treated our van to a wash.  It was nice to look at the van and think, wow you’re pretty decent.  Now the van sparkled like an expensive van should. So, with the…

    The Unique Fraser Island

Just like the Whitsunday Islands or the Great Barrier Reef, Fraser Island is high on every traveller’s bucket-list.  Fraser Island is situated just off the east coast of Australia approximately three hours north of Brisbane.  It’s the world’s largest sand island and the only place in the world where rainforest grows on sand. The beautiful crystal clear waters of Lake McKenzie alone make this place not one you want to miss. I recently spent a day exploring Fraser Island with Unique Fraser.  Unique Fraser are a tour company offering one day 4×4 Land Cruiser tours with small groups of six.  If you don’t want to see the island on a…
