Exploring Edinburgh with the Fujifilm X-T2
I recently returned to Edinburgh for the first time in over seven years and, honestly, I’d forgotten how much I love this city. The capital of Scotland is built on the remains of an extinct volcano, evident by the huge castle dominating the skyline and Arthur’s Seat hiding in plain sight just past Holyrood Palace. Edinburgh’s Old Town is full of medieval buildings, homely pubs and almost too many souvenir shops. On ground level, the New Town is full of Georgian buildings and all of your standard high street shops. Everywhere you look, there’s something to catch your eye and point your camera at. As I was only in Edinburgh…

New Year’s Eve in Allendale: The Tar Bar’l
If you’re anything like me, you’ll have started to realise that New Year’s Eve is so over-hyped. Spending a ridiculous amount of money to stand in a packed bar with drunk idiots counting down to what, in reality, is just another day. The first day of the year doesn’t suddenly mean that you now need to start new goals or brings an end to all the bad decisions you’ve made over the past year. You can change your life any day you want, you don’t have to wait until the 1st of January. This year in particular though, having just returned from travelling, I wanted to do something different for…

Revolution in Durham: The Bar You’ve Been Waiting For
It was only a few weeks ago that I sat down and wrote about the best bars and pubs in Durham. However, with the opening of popular bar Revolution in Durham, I think its time to update that post! It’s only just opened yet already I’d class it as THE place for food and drink in the city. Last week I was invited to check out Revolution in Durham prior to the launch on Friday. I was able to sample quite a few drinks and cocktails as well as the food. Whilst this was all provided free of charge, my opinions in this article will be completely honest. If you’ve…

Ten Photos To Inspire You To Visit Lincoln, UK
Hands up if you’ve ever been to Lincoln? Nope, didn’t think many of you had! For some reason, travellers don’t seem to visit Lincoln yet the city is up there with the best of them. Lincoln began many years ago as a Roman town and has been seen as an important settlement throughout history. If you decide to visit Lincoln, you’ll struggle to miss the imposing castle and cathedral looking over the city. The city is absolutely beautiful. Of course, there are areas that are undergoing regeneration and the high street is just like everywhere else, but it’s certainly worth a weekend of your time. My favourite area is from…

The Best Bars and Pubs in Durham
Since Emma and I met back in 2009, Durham has been my third city of choice; coming last behind Lincoln and York. Having now moved into the area, Durham is essentially my adopted home so I’ll be spending a lot more time in this historic city. As everyone knows, the English like a good alcoholic drink. In fact, we love it so much that we almost have the highest binge drinking rate in the world. Whole weekends are centred around nights out but, as I get older, I’m much more interested in a day session of drinking. If you’re visiting or already live here, I’ve put together a list of…

York’s Top 10 Bars and Pubs
Most people have probably heard that York is said to have 365 pubs; one for each day of the year. I’m sorry to disappoint but I’m not too sure this is entirely accurate. However, there are plenty of high quality venues within the city walls that are all worth a visit. Whether you are in the mood for craft beer, quirky cocktails or a cosy, traditional pub, York’s impressive diversity really does cater for all needs. If you’re heading to York on a weekend, you’ll want to make sure that you avoid some of the chain bars along the river which are full to the brim with stag and, mostly,…
